NJCAR Workshops in Disaster Preparedness for Cultural Institutions
Planning ahead for emergencies is vital for the long-term survival of any business, and the same applies to the cultural community. The arts and cultural organizations in New Jersey are an important part of the state’s economy. We want to help ensure that they can connect with resources to help them manage a crisis effectively, and recover as quickly as possible afterwards.
Attendees will learn about the disaster planning process and contents of a disaster plan, hear about business continuity issues and receive information about resources to help with planning in order to protect people and property.
Ellen Korpar is an Emergency Preparedness Consultant, primarily working with cultural organizations to assist them in developing Emergency Action Plans that are inclusive of all aspects involved in the continued running of the organization. Ellen has an extensive experience in Emergency Preparedness, Response and Recovery; having been involved with 17 Nationally Declared Disasters that have included, hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and floods. She has seen firsthand what effect these disasters have on whole communities. As a result, she has made it her mission to educate individuals, businesses and communities of the importance of emergency planning, response and recovery for all types of hazards, whether they be by nature or man-made.
We will be hosting this event at two places:
March 18, 2020- Middlesex Cultural and Heritage Offices, 9 AM-1 PM: 75 Bayard St, New Brunswick, NJ 08901
March 19, 2020- Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen's Museum, 9 AM-1 PM: 120 W Main St, Tuckerton, NJ 08087
Time: 9:00am-1:00pm
Cost: $15 per person
