NJCAR Annual Membership Meeting 2016

The NJCAR Annual Membership Meeting was held on March 22, 2016 at the Ocean County Library in Toms River. The meeting was well attended. Presentations were give by Tom Clareson, Karl Neiderer, and the NJ Office of Emergency Management.

Tom Clareson, Senior Digital & Preservation Services Consultant from Lyrasis introduced us to new resources for Alliance Response communities throughout the country.

Karl Neiderer, Assistant for Strategic Partnerships at the NJ Historic Preservation Office unveiled NJCAR's GIS mapping pilot project, and the efforts underway to account for the state's cultural assets and organizations.

The NJ Office of Emergency Management explained and updated us on the Emergency Support Function (ESF) structure, and how cultural agencies will be included in the system going forward.

NJCAR’s primary aims are to prevent and mitigate the loss of cultural and historic resources in the event of a disaster and to serve as a statewide resource.

The functions and duties of NJCAR are to engage in the following activities:

Conduct regular steering committee meetings to address pertinent issues regarding emergency preparedness and response.
