NJCAR Statewide Summit Sept. 9, 2015

Cultural Institutions & Emergency Management: Partners in Emergency Response & Recovery

Held on September 9, 2015 at the Monmouth County Public Safety Complex, this summit was intended for collections care managers, arts professionals, artists, volunteers, and emergency managers and addressed important facets of emergency response and building local networks for collaborative mutual aid. A culmination of a year of New Jersey Cultural Alliance for Response (NJCAR) initiatives, speakers included representatives from such organizations as the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, LYRASIS, and the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts.

NJCAR’s primary aims are to prevent and mitigate the loss of cultural and historic resources in the event of a disaster and to serve as a statewide resource.

The functions and duties of NJCAR are to engage in the following activities:

Conduct regular steering committee meetings to address pertinent issues regarding emergency preparedness and response.
